The University of Guelph’s Alumni of Honour: Dr. Betsy McGregor
The University of Guelph’s Alumni of Honour Award recognizes alumni whose significant contributions to the community, science, education, business, industry, and the arts bring honour to their alma mater and fellow alumni. We are excited to share that our very own Plumleaf author, Dr. Elizabeth (Betsy) McGregor recently received this incredible honour.
Betsy is an esteemed scientist and champion of gender equality and diversity in science and leadership, she is also a vocal supporter of diversity in leadership positions. She has founded the APEC Women Leader’s Network, served on Harvard Kennedy School Women’s Leadership Board, SHAD Board and run for Parliament twice.
In order to inspire, equip and empower future leaders, Betsy interviewed 95 pathbreakers for her book Women on the Ballot: Pathways to Political Power which features stories from former Prime Minister Kim Campbell, the Honorable Flora MacDonald, and many other powerful women across party lines at all political levels including Indigenous leaders.
Betsy’s accomplishments have been widely recognized, including being awarded the Order of Canada in December 2021. She is a strong advocate for women in science and is committed to mentoring the next generation of health leaders in Canada. Betsy’s dedication to her work and her family is an inspiration to us all.
